"Barbara Cohen and Little Lizard must be handled carefully. Like a new knife, this record's emotional edge is deceptively honed, and can sink deep to some tender spot before you even begin to feel that itch, let alone that pain. It's just a damn near perfect... These songs pierce through you, they leave spots in you, where memories collect: cool evenings of a new-found defiance, warmer afternoons of something missed and missing. Proof that songwritting can still terrify and console, inspire and connect." Carty Fox, CAKE

"Cohen and Little Lizard travel to the beat of their own fascinatingly complex drum; a challenge well met by the release's thirteen spectral and stunning tapestries." Jannet Ray, Twin Cities Reader

Black Lake was the winner of the Minnesota Music Acadamy's 1996 award for the best self-produced indie CD. Barbara Cohen also won the 1996 MMA's award for the best female songwritter.

Released by Barbara Cohen on her own label, re-released by the Twin/Tone Records Group - September 24, 1996. It is "out of print."
